When the urge arises, remember a couple of things. Don't listen to the voice that begs you to have 'only one cigarette'. One is never enough. Be resilient and defend yourself.
And remember the golden rule, the unshakable truth:
The nature of existence is impermanence.
Any rising event is bound, by the law of nature, to pass.
When you experience a difficult moment all you have to do is remember:
This too shall pass.
Also remember that the agony and strife are not yours, they are the pains of the dying addiction. But since addiction dwells within you, its pains are experienced within you. The anguish may be tremendous now as addiction approaches its death and becomes desperate.
Remember that addiction will do anything within its capacity to survive. And its best strategy right now is to bombard you with craving.
Don't succumb, no matter what!
