Who is it that is speaking?
Can it be me? Advocating my chemical dependency? Can it be me, or is it insidious 'Addiction', trying to maintain its grip?
But in order to start ascending and making progress you first have to ask yourself seriously:
Do you really want to quit smoking?
Stay with this question for a moment. It is not that obvious, is it?
Do you really want to stop smoking cigarettes?
If the answer is positively yes, you must realize that if you really want to quit you can certainly succeed. But it is not as simple as that.
The facts are that 80 per cent of smokers declare that they want to stop, but most people just don't do anything it about it. Many do take action and try to give up smoking, but they fail within a few days of the initial attempt. And others do manage to quit, but they relapse shortly afterwards. Of course, there are many people who do quit permanently, so let's do our best to adopt a strategy that will make us winners.
Let us not fall into the pit this time - make this attempt not only a success, but also a long-term lifestyle choice. If you have a good framework and a realistic expectation base, quitting smoking is feasible and manageable.
But your actions have to be based on understanding.
You have to realize that you smoke because you are addicted to nicotine, and that nicotine is a very addictive drug.
Nicotine, in fact, is a psychoactive drug that causes psychical dependency as well as a compulsive behavior disorder.
Nicotine induces physical and mental addictions.
Did you know that cigarettes are more addictive than heroin, cocaine and alcohol?
It is a fact.
Another fact is that cigarette smoking is more harmful to the smoker and society than the use of alcohol, cocaine, heroin and other illicit drugs combined.
