Becoming a non-smoker - Page 5
Stop Smoking

It's time to wake up and stop being 'goody-two-shoes'. Addiction is not a welcome guest, so give it a kick in the ass and out on the street.

It's time to call on your inner warrior. Remember that you are a survivor by nature - you have the means and you have the power. Realize that this is a life-and-death challenge, so expose your sharp tusks and fingernails and fight back.

But the situation is made even worse because you have the enemy inside your head. The enemy whispers all kinds of adverse words in your ears from the inside. It deceives and cheats and manipulates and induces sleep. It seduces and hypnotizes you and you succumb. Before you know it, the battle is lost.

Do you want a smoking career of thirty to forty years?

As a kid or adolescent you were lured by the cool 'Hollywood movie' aspect of smoking, Camel and Marlboro advertising, and the older guys in the neighborhood who smoked. That's okay, you didn't know better then. But does it mean that you need to develop a thirty- to forty-year smoking career?

No way!

Wake yourself up, give yourself a serious shake, get a grip, get the real picture. Don't listen to addiction, listen to yourself.

Enough is enough!
Life is all we have. Life is an opportunity to live.

Life is not a dress rehearsal - it is show-time right now!

Wake up!

You are fighting for your life, so start listening to yourself. Whenever you hear the seductive voice of addiction in disguise, be alert! Unleash the warrior from within to confront it. Be discerning and fight back.

Inside your head there are two authorities, addiction and you. Start relating to addiction as a separate entity. Call it 'the enemy' and don't let it manipulate you any more. There's no real conflict, the whole of you wants to be free of addiction, to live better and longer, and not fall victim to a terrible disease.

The following information is not included to scare you, but you do need to know the facts in order to be aware of what you are up against. Information is power - once the facts are laid out clearly in front of you, your commonsense can be employed, and you will be able to draw the right conclusions.

Please consider:

Tobacco manufacturers are villains. These huge corporations have ethics that are no better than those of the illicit drug cartels. Maybe even worse.

Nicotine is an addictive drug that causes disease and premature death, yet these companies and the individuals behind them continue to promote smoking, especially among young people. (Remember that once started, smoking often becomes a thirty to forty year habit.)

The tobacco companies are unscrupulous and greedy and they make huge profits at your expense. You pay the bill. You pay a ridiculous amount of money to sustain your addiction, then you pay a ridiculous amount of money to sustain your health.

They laugh all the way to the banks at your expense.
